 BRENTWOOD
The people of the town of Brentwood value their quality of life. They try to provide services that maintain high standards for the city residents and the business community. The town management seeks to demonstrate a responsibility to the people by being trustworthy and accountable for the taxes collected, while also having a broad enough vision to be expansive when it is called for. LOCATION
The city of Brentwood is located about sixty miles east of San Francisco. It is located approximately 20 minutes north on I-580 from Livermore and 12 miles east of Concord. State Route 4 is the major thoroughfare linking Brentwood to western cities. Vasco Road is the vital southern link to the Tri-Valley communities of Livermore and Pleasanton. AIRPORTS Airports certified for carrier operations nearest to Brentwood: BUCHANAN FIELD (about 24 miles; CONCORD, CA; ID: CCR) TRAVIS AFB (about 26 miles; FAIRFIELD, CA; ID: SUU) STOCKTON METROPOLITAN (about 34 miles; STOCKTON, CA; ID: SCK) Other public-use airports nearest to Brentwood: BYRON (about 11 miles; BYRON, CA; ID: C83) RIO VISTA MUNI (about 18 miles; RIO VISTA, CA; ID: O88) LOST ISLE (about 19 miles; STOCKTON, CA; ID: Q87) BRIEF HISTORY
The mild climate and abundant food supply were fundamental reasons for the dense Indian population in California. Three tribes once populated what is now Contra Costa County. The Contra Costa Indian Population was once estimated to be 57,000. The Indian populations lived as hunters and gatherers and were able to survive from the land. They hunted deer and small animals and fished in rivers and streams. They also collected acorns from oak trees, which they ground into meal using mortars and pestles. Not much was written by the Indians about themselves in their daily lives, so all we have is the white mans perception of their of their daily life. In 1772, the Spanish missionaries came to Contra Costa to sign up the local Indians for baptism. This did not seem to work out to well for either side. The Spanish granted the area of Los Meganos to Don Jose Noriega. In 1837, Dr. John Marsh purchased it. The first immigrants arrived in 1841 and the first school was built in 1865. It was a one-room grammar school called the Liberty School. The first businesses were started in 1864. They were a mercantile store and a blacksmith shop. In 1878 the San Pablo and Tulare railroad came through town and the first post office was started. Then in 1881, the first map was filed for Brentwood as a Township. EDUCATION This quote is the mission statement of the Strategic Plan for the Brentwood Union School District. It exemplifies the goals of the schools in Brentwood as a whole. “While nurturing our strong sense of community, rich in diversity, we will develop productive citizens who excel academically and grow personally by providing quality education in a student-centered environment built on the foundation of family and community involvement.” DISCOVERY BAY Discovery Bay was developed as a planned community in the 1970’s in the East Bay area of San Francisco. It is one of the small, quaint farming communities in the Sacramento Delta. Not far from the glamour and entertainment of the major cities of San Francisco and Oakland to the west and from the state capitol, Sacramento, to the northeast, here you also find a fishing and boating paradise. LOCATION Discovery Bay is located on the waters of the Delta in East Contra Costa County, which is part of the San Francisco Bay area. It is about 6 miles southwest of Brentwood and about an hour drive from the City of San Francisco. It is located in the Contra Costa School District. AIRPORTS

Oakley's motto, “A Place for Families in the Heart of the Delta,” fits this beautiful area perfectly. Oakley was incorporated in July 1999 in order to first manage growth more carefully and second, to improve law enforcement services through its own city police force. In Oakley, there is a great availability of affordable housing, and the delta waterways have an almost unlimited variety of outdoor activities. LOCATION About an hour’s drive from San Francisco, Oakley is located in eastern Contra Costa County along the shore of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. It is close to the junction of Highways 4 and 160. EDUCATION The City of Oakley has the benefit of effective public schools with curricula that are creative and responsive to their children's needs. Central to the success of Oakley's public schools are small class sizes geared for a low student to teacher ratio, clearly focused academic goals, strategies for engaging students, and the instilling of love for learning. Selling Your Home >Your Selling Strategy
Have your housing needs expanded along with your income? Are you are thinking about selling your property and looking for a new home? The transition can be accomplished smoothly by using a systematic approach.
As part of your selling strategy, it is advantageous to have your present house under contract before you begin a serious search for a new home. This will make you attractive to sellers in two ways. You won't have to include a contingency in your offer to cover the sale of your present home. You will strengthen your negotiating position by improving your financial circumstance with an accepted offer. In a situation where there are multiple offers on the new home, the chances of your offer being accepted are better if it isn't dependent on selling another house before you can make a move.
